Is it possibe to show post titles?

    Is it possibe to show post titles without needing to hover over a post’s image?
    I would like the post titles to be visible by default (without having to hover over a post); is this possible; and, if so, how?

    Many thanks

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    Where do you find that you have to hover over a post’s image to display the post titles? I presume that was on a different theme, than is presently applied to https://sesnet2.wordpress.com. The answer would depend, in part, on which theme is activated.

    Hi musicdoc1
    On the home page, the images for each of the 12 most recent posts are displayed.
    And when one hovers over one of the images, the post title is displayed.
    Is it possible that the post titles of the posts are displayed without the need to hover over them?
    Many thanks

    Hi,

    What is the website address (URL) of the site you are referring to? The site https://sesnet2.wordpress.com/ has a static front page. Its blog page has two posts, the titles of which do behave as you describe. Whether the text in a title on the blog page will change color or shade when a browser runs over it is a result of a design choice by the author(s) of the theme. To modify this behavior would require CSS customization.

    You may either submit a separate request to the CSS Customization forum, or add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

    As in the case I referred to above, the effect you describe here is due to a design choice by the theme author(s). It’s likely that CSS Customization would be required to modify the effect. If the behavior you describe regarding the post title on the blog page can be changed without CSS customization, then the ability to do so would be theme dependent, and would likely likely involve an option (check/uncheck) at Customize > Content Options (if present) or Theme Options. What theme is activated on the site you are referring to, and what is the address (URL) of that site?

    Sorry, I got confused in my second post above. It’s obvious that you are referring to a site other than the one linked to in your first post, a site with a theme other than Affinity activated.

    My apologies musicdoc1
    I caused the confusion by including another site in my first post.
    The site I am referring to is: startups2.wordpress.com
    It uses the Hatch theme.
    As far as I can see, there is not the option to display the post titles in Customizer.
    So I guess I will need to modify the CSS, as you suggest.
    Would you happen to know which file I would likely need to change?
    Many thanks for your help!

    No worries. Thanks for the correct site address, and for identifying the theme, Hatch.

    So I guess I will need to modify the CSS, as you suggest.

    Yes. If it is possible, then it would require CSS modification.

    Would you happen to know which file I would likely need to change?

    No. I’ve no experience with CSS at all. So I suggest that you either submit a separate request to the CSS Customization forum, or add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

    Or you can just wait. Eventually a staff person looks at all topics in the Themes forum, though that might not happen until Monday.

  • Hi vasselc!

    musicdoc1 is right, you can make them visible without having to hover by adding some Custom CSS, which would require either a Premium Plan or Business Plan.

    With one of those upgrades, you can use the Customizer to add the following snippet to your Custom CSS:

    .blog .hentry .entry-title, .archive .hentry .entry-title {
        opacity: 1;
    }

    Let us know if you have any more questions!

    Thanks chad1008 and musicdoc1
    At least now I know!
