Is it possible not to have certain posts on the home page without deleting them??..how can I do that??
Thanks in advance

@lovefrom1stbite, I’m not sure I understand what it is that you want to do. Are you looking to make those posts Private by password protecting them? Do you want to “unpost” them? Can you please explain a bit further.

What lovefom1stbite is maybe looking for is the ability to “filter” posts. Coming from TypePad, I know that is possible there. In TypePad you can manually select which categories you want to appear on your front posts page. The categories can still be found using the categories widgets, put they do not appear in the posts rundown on the front page. Unfortunately that is not possible in wordpress.com. It is possible to show posts from one single category only, but it is not possible to exclude single posts or single categories.

Sort of a “do not display this category” kind of thing? Maybe making the Post “Private” in the Write Editor? Either making it Private, unpublishing or password protecting it would take it out of public view.
(BTW-once a Post is published, it goes into the RSS feed. Don’t have a clue what happens if you try to “unpublish”, “private” or “password protect” an already published Post.)

In my last sentence above I said that “It is possible to show posts from one single category only, but it is not possible to exclude single posts or single categories”. Let me take that back. I should have tested that first. That is NOT possible.

Thanks for your replies. I meant just not to have all in the home page but not password protected. I want them to be public but if anyone want them they can click on categories and take a look, that’s all.
in other words: All posts are to be seen in the home page unless you create a special page for them?? -
Your home page doesn’t display all posts, it displays your most recent posts. So if you want to exclude certain posts only, I don’t see the point: once newer posts are added, older ones will be pushed out of your home page anyway. If you generally want your visitors to get to the posts via the Categories only, you can set the number of posts displayed in your home page to ONE (= your latest post). And if you want NO posts on your home page, you can set a static front page.

Thanks panaghiotisadam..I was thinking maybe it’s better to have the home page for the recipes only that’s what I was looking for but I guess it’s not really a big deal. Thanks again for your reply :)

You can always change the date on the posts so they’re older than what’s on the front page. That would work.
