    Hi there,

If you navigate to the Widgets panel of the WordPress.com Customizer and click through to the Archives widget’s settings, you’ll see a checkbox to “Display as dropdown.”

The month and year of your posts will display in a dropdown menu after you check that option. It’s not possible to get the title of your posts to display in a dropdown menu with the Archives widget.

If you’d like to display title’s of your posts in the sidebar, you could consider the Display WordPress Posts widget, although this option doesn’t allow for a dropdown menu.

Let me know which route you decide to go down and if I can help with any further information.

Yes I meant to get the title of your posts to display in a dropdown menu with the Archives widget.

I will see what the jetpack thing is

Also please tell me how to install plugins on widgets ?

I am trying to install jetpack and when I enter my blog web site address and click on install it says – That’s a WordPress.com site, so you don’t need to connect it.

    What should I do ?

    Hi there,

Yes I meant to get the title of your posts to display in a dropdown menu with the Archives widget.

It’s not possible to customise the Archives widget in such a way here at WordPress.com. You could use the Recent Posts or Display WordPress Posts widgets as alternative approaches to displaying your posts’ titles.

Also please tell me how to install plugins on widgets ?

WordPress.com is a shared hosting environment and, therefore, it’s not possible to install plugins here. Instead, we have the functionality of many plugins already built in and you can activate many widgets via the Widgets panel of the WordPress.com Customizer.

Any online guides or tutorials referencing plugins are referring to sites hosted elsewhere and running on the free software available at WordPress.org.

The differences between the two types of WordPress (WordPress.com and WordPress.org) is an understandable point of confusion. I recommend the following guide, which gives a good overview on the two, if you’re unsure:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

I am trying to install jetpack and when I enter my blog web site address and click on install it says – That’s a WordPress.com site, so you don’t need to connect it.

Jetpack is a plugin that we made to bring the power and features of WordPress.com to users of WordPress.org. All of the features that come with Jetpack are already built into WordPress.com by default and there’s therefore no need for you to install it.

Let me know if that helps out or if you have further questions.
