Is it possible to add categories to a new parent?

I can see how to add a child category to an existing category, which must act as the parent.

But I have 34 categories (based on countries in the world), and now I want simplify them with parents (based on continents…).

    Is this possible?

Under the WP Admin page, there is an option that says “Posts” in the left-hand column. Click or hover over Posts, then select “Categories”.

You should now be able to create new categories using “Add Category” based on the continents. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have to manually edit each of the country categories to place them under their new continental parents.

For example, create a category called “North America”. Make sure the “Parent” drop-down is left as “none”.

Now find one of the country categories you’ve made from the list on the right. Let’s say “Canada”. When you hover over the category, a list of options should pop up that says “Edit|Quick Edit|Delete|View”.

Select “Edit”. There should be a drop-down box that says “Parent”, from which you can now select the category (let’s say “North America” using the above examples) you’d like it to be nested under.

Don’t forget to click the “Update” button after you edit each category.
