Is it possible to block particular referrers?

Hello
I hope this isn’t a silly question. Is it possible to block particular referrers from linking to my site?
Akismet is great at preventing the spam comments from getting through, but I’m getting a fair amount of traffic from completely unrelated sites (sex sites, dating sites, debt and mortage sites, etc.) Some are websites and some are blogs. There is no reason (other than spam, I think), for these kind of sites to be linking to me. I really hope there’s a way to block them permanently? If not, WordPress, please make a way for this to happen! If I can’t block unwanted sites from sending their readers to my blog I may have to make it private.

There are umpteen threads on this “Referrer spam” lately. Just copy the URLs and report them to staff directly via your dashboard Help button. They’ll take care of it.
Generally speaking, however, you cannot stop anyone from linking to you. What staff will do is remove them from your stats, so you won’t see them. Don’t worry, spammers like that have no real readers and nobody will associate you with them.
