Is it possible to build my website before transferring it to our existing domain?

  I don’t want to switch our new site over to our existing domain yet, as I would like people to still be able to access our old site until the new one is completed. What is the best way to do that? Thank you!

  Hi charissousou,

  There are no WordPress.com sites owned by your account at the moment. What is the address of the new site you are working on?

  If you haven’t started it yet but want to use WordPress.com, you can create a site (with a free address containing “.wordpress.com”), choose a theme and make customisations etc. The domain can then be mapped or transferred whenever you are ready to make the switch.

  If you want to upgrade plans in order to use features like additional storage space, the domain credit can be left unused until a later date.
