Is it possible to change weight of Raleway font to the 'Light' using CSS

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
    Is it possible to change the weight of the Raleway font from the default of ‘thin’ to ‘light’? I have tried changing the CSS but it does’t seem to make any difference.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hi Lisa,

    on your site, I see that the font-size for texts using Raleway fonts (site title, post title, widget titles) is set to be the lightest possible:

    .wf-active h1, .wf-active h2, .wf-active h3, .wf-active h4, .wf-active h5, .wf-active h6 {
        font-family: raleway-1,raleway-2,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
        font-style: normal;
        font-weight: 100;
        font-variant: normal;
    }

    changing the font-weight to 300 should bring it from Thin to Light (as per the font’s documentation here: http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Raleway)

    I tried it but it didn’t really work though :(

    It could be that the Raleway font embedded with the theme does not come with weights other than Thin, for performance purposes.

    Finally, the correct place to ask for CSS customization is over at the (surprise, surprise) CSS Customization forum, so please ask there instead if you have further questions:

    Thanks for responding. I have changed the CSS with this
    `wf-active #logo h1 a, .wf-active #logo h1 {
    font-family: raleway-1, raleway-2, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    font-style: normal;
    font-variant: normal;
    font-weight: 700 !important;
    color: #000000;
    }`
    but could’t get it to work either (700 so the change in font weight would be really noticeable ).
    Apologies for posting in the wrong place but I used the post box displayed after I did a search on the tag ‘Raleway’. I wasn’t given an option where in the forum to post it.

    Further to message above, I beg your pardon, I did have an option to put it in the right forum and I missed it so mucho grand apology!

    Yeah, so our best guess here is that the theme does not include Raleway in any other weight than 100.

    I’ll notify the Staff for clarification on this issue.

    Apologies for not responding here sooner.

    I would definitely suggest you repost this question in the CSS Customization forums and see if anyone has any suggestions for you there.
