Is it possible to customize a free wordpress theme without paying for it?

  Hello WordPress team! I just created my blog and I’m having a hard time customizing it. I just want to know if it is possible to customize a free theme without having to pay for it? I edited the appearance of my blog’s theme but it won’t save any changes I made. Thank you so much for your help!

  Depends on what you mean by “customize” and “appearance”. CSS editing (such that would allow you to change fonts, colors, dimensions etc) isn’t possible without the Custom Design upgrade. A lot of other settings and options are free, but the “Customizer” tool is buggy, so you can use the other sections of the dashboard instead – see this post of mine:
