Is it possible to disable comments so they don't show up on your blog?

Yes. You can override the default Discussion settings here > Settings > Discussion on any individual posts or pages you create in the future. It is not retroactive. If you have existing comments you can bulk edit and close comments on posts and pages that already have them. However, doing this will not remove the “comments closed” or a similar phrase that will appear when you close comments. That can only be done by purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade.

Thanks TimeThief. Sometimes I think your screen name means you constantly steal your own time to give it to others. How do you find time for yourself when you are always teaching all of us newbies how to do things at WordPress? – Mickey
