Is it possible to follow people’s blogs on wordpress?

Hi, I set up my blog yesterday so I’ve got a couple of freshers’ questions… I was wondering if it’s possible to follow people on WordPress? Also, how can i advertise my blog on WordPress so people see it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There’s no such thing as Following on WP.com, although you can offer RSS or email subscriptions by using the appropriate widgets on the widget page. It won’t display the subscribers in your sidebar, though.
As for how to get your blog better-known, there are over a thousand tips in the forum already, so do a search for related terms, check the tag cloud in the sidebar of the forum, and take it a bit at a time.

Really, I thought wordpress had a pseudo follow feature, but it was mainly designed for blogs that are private (and thus, can’t be subscribed to via RSS). From the main dashboard, go to blog surfer, and you can see all of the blogs you ‘follow’ (which is probably none, as it doesn’t seem like a very popular featuer).

It’s been there as long as I’ve known, but people never use it, and it’s never been too popular.

The biggest complaints are:
1) it’s not public, so how can I show off how many people read me
2) you can’t delete a blog from your blog surfer. -
I don’t know why they don’t work on it and then promote the blog surfer. It’s a bit clunky the way it is, but deleting blogs is certainly possible. I do it occasionally.
