Is it possible to forward my domain to my WP.com site?

    Is it possible to have visitors actually go to mysite.wordpress.com when they visit or click on mysite.org (a domain that I own elsewhere)? In my understanding, that’s called domain forwarding, right? I’ve done this successfully in the past with other sites, but not WP.com. If that’s possible, can it be done without a plan, or is this something that can only be done with a purchased plan (not a free WP.com)?
    I did see that domain mapping is only possible with a WP.com plan. What is the difference between domain forwarding and domain mapping anyway?

    By forwarding, I meant forwarding with or without masking.

    Hello there,

    What you’re describing is possible with WordPress.com and this is called a site redirect (often referred to domain forwarding as well).

    This can be set up as per these instructions: https://wordpress.com/support/site-redirect/

    Domain mapping is different to a domain redirect/forward.

    Domain mapping is when you configure a domain at a registrar (for example GoDaddy) to point to a different hosting provider, through the use of custom DNS settings.

    Thanks for your quick response. But that didn’t answer my question. I’m not trying to redirect my lalala.wordpress.com site to another site/domain. It’s the other way around.

    I want to redirect or forward lalala.com to lalala.wordpress.com (using domain forwarding/masking)… The question is: Would that be possible without upgrading my wordpress.com plan?

    I did search around about domain mapping and I understand the difference between mapping and forwarding. Still, I need to know if I could forward a standalone domain to mysite.wordpress.com without purchasing a WP.com plan.

    There are no alternatives to do that on WordPress.com. You would need to map that custom domain, and that requires a paid plan. You can read more about that here:
