Is it possible to have page links within a page…

Is it possible to have page links within a page – rather than having them all from the main page?
I’ve searched the forum and all the questions relating to this have no answers!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can posts links on any static page. This page is designed to help you add links to your posts or pages. http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

Actually, I don’t think that’s not quite what i’m after.
What I’d like is a list of items on a page, that when i click on each one, a blank ‘sheet’ pops up that i can insert writing and photos into. Is this possible with the Cutline template?
-
I don’t understand what that accomplishes. You can already create a new post or a new page using these instructions >
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#writing-a-new-post
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/Also note that pages and posts are very different. Pages are meant for static content that rarely, if ever, changes. They cannot have either categories assigned to them and they have very little Google juice.
-
Ok, i’m confusing pages and posts – so what if want to specify which pages my posts appear on?
I’m guessing I’d need a static front page for starters. Is that right? -
We can tell you how to create a non blog (mock website) that is based on a static page structure with a static front page if that’s what you truly want. However, are you aware that doing that amounts to crippling your blog when it comes to getting other bloggers to backlink to your posts and having your blog achieve a PageRank?
If you don’t care about Google juice and PageRank then having a static front page that your readers have to click through just to find your fresh content every time they visit your blog then we can help you achieve that (see below). However, do note that that such a structure is not how blogs are designed to operate. The most active page flowing with Google juice on a blog is the front page which has the most recent posts on it. Those posts have categories and tags assigned to them that bring targeted traffic in from search engines.

Please understand that I’m not refusing to help you. I just wanted you to be fully informed and aware that there is only one page on which blog posts you publish will automatically display in a blog. That’s normally the front page of the blog. You can change it to a static front page and create a blog based on a page structure, rather than a post structured blog, but there are negative consequences in terms of Google juice, PageRank, and impact on visitors.

I think that’s what i want. I’d like it to be more like a regular website than a blog website.
Essentially, i want to have 4 different blogs within a blog. I’m not really fussed about hits as it’s more of an online portfolio and a place to learn than a place to pick up business. -

Okay but do understand this only one page will automatically update with the new posts you publish. If you are willing to change themes then you can create categories for each of the four blogs. Then you can choose to display those categories in the horizontal menu where static Pages are normally displayed. The two themes you can do this with easily as they provude these options are INove and Monotone.
If you don’t wish to use either of them then there’s a trick that can be used to achieve the same thing on some of the themes only. See > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/page-tabs-as-external-links/
Another important thing about themes is that some themes have a “Home” or “Blog” or “Front Page” tab or link that cannot be removed. See > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/homefrontblog-tab/

Hmmm … I see the design you are after but something arises arises as that’s a commercial website that you have posted the link to above.
Just in case you intend to create a commercial mock website please read >
types of blogs > http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
advertising > http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/
wordpress.com blogs cannot be used to drive traffic to third party sites > see section 2, 5th bullet http://wordpress.com/tos/ -
It’s really not a commercial thing. I’m just into design so aesthetics are important to me.
I think i’ve worked it out except for one thing.
The ‘categories’ thing only appears at the bottom of a post but all the posts appear in the right hand column on the front page together.
Is there a way so that the category headings will appear as sub headers within the ‘recent entries header? -
One can have a static front page with links to various category pages which do automatically update.
You would write your posts and categorize them with cats like:
furniture
about us
interiors<a href="http://somethingsthat.wordpress.com/category/category/furniture/">furniture</a> <a href="http://somethingsthat.wordpress.com/category/category/about-us/">about us</a> <a href="http://somethingsthat.wordpress.com/category/category/furniture/">interiors</a>Choose a theme with no automatic “home” header tab.

Good. I just wanted to cover all the bases before you put a lot of effort out.
Categories links to posts will appear in the Categories widget after they have been assigned to posts which have been published, and you have placed the widget in the sidebar.
See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/SubPages (child pages) will appear in the Pages widget in your sidebar after your publish them and place the widget in the sidebar. Note that you can also hide Pages from displaying
See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/pages-widget/To create ease for readers you can manually create links to subpages (child pages) on the Parent pages.
As you are using the Cutline theme with a “Front Page” tab you cannot remove, IMO the pages as external tabs trick (ie. placing the Categories where the Pages currently display is a better alternative).

Ooh blimey! That sounds complicated. Maybe a job for tomorrow!
Thanks for your help. I’m sure i’ll be back soon.
Have a good weekend.
