IS IT POSSIBLE TO INCLUDE 2 IMAGES IN HEADER IN STAY THEME
-
I’d like to have one logo image aligned left, and one text image aligned centre. is that possible ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The header section can only hold one image. If you edit the logo into the header image (with an image manipulation tool like Photoshop or Gimp), you can upload that image as your header.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Hi, sorry I don’t fully understand. I’d like my logo to be aligned left in the header and some text (which is saved as an image file) to be aligned centre. Is that possible ?
-
Since the current header image has the text next to the logo, you’ll need to edit the image with a manipulation tool like Photoshop or Gimp to add more space between the logo and the text.

But, the text won’t be centred on everyone’s screen depending on their screen size / resolution. That’s why I wondered whether we could have 2 images for the header – one aligned left and one aligned centre ?

Your current theme doesn’t support this. However, it is responsive so your header image resizes accordingly. Otherwise I recommend trying one of the many other themes listed at http://theme.wordpress.com/

So I’ve edited my header image so it’ll look like the text bit of the header is aligned in the centre but as you say, it’s responsive and reducing the size of the image so it’s still not aligned centrally. Is there anything i can do in the custom css so that it won’t resize my header ? i imagine the problem is the menu bar top right – but as I only have 2 links there, it shouldn’t affect the placement of the image.

It’s pretty tricky but you could alter the masthead hgroup part in your Custom CSS to resize the header. There are two parts in your original CSS which you can copy, search for ‘iPad’ and ‘Smartphone’ to find these responsize sections:

Alternatively you could try a different theme like http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hum/ , http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyeleven/ or http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentytwelve

Alas, I’m not good enough to edit the CSS as per your instructions. Can you explain for a relative newbie at this ? Also, I’m nervous about trying other themes (would I have to incorporate all the custom CSS again or does it just copy it over ?) and I do really like the look of the Stay Theme so if I could just tweak it a bit I’d be very happy. Sorry to keep hassling you about this . . .

I did some testing and not resizing the header wouldn’t be a good option because it would make the header too large compared to the other resized parts of your theme.
If you go to https://cityboygez.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcityboygez.wordpress.com%2Fwp-admin%2F you’ll see 3 icons at the bottom of the page. These icons represent the responsive view of a tablet and smartphone. If you click those you can see that the header text stays pretty much centered.
Note that the header is one image, therefore the distance between the logo and text stays the same and can’t be positioned differently. Only the entire image itself will be resized in the responsive designs.
