Is it possible to keep a sidebar on blog posts while removing it on portfolio
-
I am using the Ixion theme. I want to keep a sidebar for all blog entries while not including the sidebar on portfolio entries. Is this possible?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok, I figured out that I need to switch from the “one column” option to the “two column” option.

Sorry, I got confused. Problem is not resolved. I need to figure out how to remove the sidebar from all single portfolio project pages while still allowing the sidebar to appear on blog posts.

Hi @monongahelamsp!
It should be possible to hide the sidebar on specific parts of your site using Custom CSS.
CSS is very theme-specific, and it looks like you’ve switched themes a few times recently. Have you settled on Sela, or are you still looking around? :)
PS If you like Sela, you might also like Dara – very similar, but a little newer with some added features :)

Thanks again Chad. Your answer really is helping me decide. I like everything about the Ixion theme so far except that I don’t like how the side column shows up on the final page where you go to view the single portfolio item (page?).
I’ll be thrilled if I can fix that while still keeping the side column on blog posts. To restate: I like having a side column for blog posts but I want the final portfolio project (i think that is the right term) page to be only single column. There is a paid theme called purpose that does this.
The Purpose theme blog posts have a sidebar in this demo:
https://purposedemo.wordpress.com/blog/
Whereas the Purpose theme archive project page has no sidebar:

oops, I should have used this for the Archive project page with no sidebar: https://purposedemo.wordpress.com/portfolio/encinitas-coast/

Thanks for the example. Actually, I think we might be able to do this without CSS.
Try adding a widget to the sidebar, then in that widget’s settings, click on Widget Visibility.
Create a single rule:
Hide if Page is Project.
If you do that for each widget in the sidebar, they should show up everywhere except on individual Portfolio Projects (yes, that’s the right term!) :)
Give that a try, and let me know if it does what you had in mind
