Is it possible to keep my domain renewal but cancel my website plan?
-
So, I registered my domain here and started my website but found one of the main functions I needed for my website (embedding Sketchfab) was not permitted here. I moved my website to another place, but kept my domain here. Now I’m paying $99 for website building and file hosting I no longer need on WordPress and the domain registration.
Is there anyway to separate these so I’m only paying for my domain registration and not for the website building premium plan? I’m well passed the 60 day period in which you can transfer your domain to a different registrar, and I don’t want to be spending extra money.
Thanks for any help.

Go to My Upgrades and cancel the Premium plan upgrade. There should be an option to keep the domain. If you don’t see that option, a staff member may need to unbundle the upgrades. For their assistance, add “modlook” to the tags for this forum thread.

So, hitting the cancel plan button seems to have stopped auto renew? I’m very confused. My domain says it will renew on February 23 under domain settings but it also says under payment settings it renews with the plan that I have cancelled. How is that supposed to work? My only option to renew is the premium plan and not just the domain as far as just can tell.

Hi there,
We recently made some changes so that cancelling an upgrade doesn’t remove it completely, but only cancels renewal so it will expire at the end of the subscription.
If you want to renew only your domain, I can disconnect it from the plan for you, and I can cancel the plan completely if you prefer that over letting it expire on its own.
However, as your site is no longer hosted here, you also have the option of transferring the domain to a different registrar. If, for example, your current host accepts incoming domain transfers, you can transfer your domain there so your site and domain are in the same place. (The 60-day restriction is a period during which you CAN’T transfer a domain. After those 60 days you can transfer it at any time.)

(I should stop reading directions when I’m tired! Thanks for clearing up that 60 day requirement.)
Just to keep things simple for now, please disconnect my plan from my domain, so I can renew the domain only. I’m not sure what difference it makes to cancel versus let expire my plan, but so long as I’m no longer paying for it, I’ll be happy.
Thanks again for your help.

Okay, I have disconnected your domain from the plan. Auto-renew is active on your domain, but not on your plan. The automatic renewal for your domain should go through around the end of February, a month before the domain expires.
Also just be aware that your plan is now without a domain credit, so if you change your mind and decide you want to keep Premium after all, renewing it won’t renew your domain. In that case you’ll need to contact us again so we can link them up again first.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
