Is it possible to make my site private to where only WP members can read?
-
My mind is frazzled even the private button is confusing as I guess I’d have to allow my followers and I don’t know how to do that. I guess if I just go private and add a big list new people can’t view or follow? I
If you have info on either please let me know. I’m on a free site and have a Mac so somethings are not the way I see them when searching. I need detailed help.
Thank you in advance
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot upload a big email list of subscribers so be clear on that. Here subscribers control their own subscriptions and you cannot subscribe for them.
You can have either a public or a private WordPress.COM hosted blog and there is no limitation on the total number of contributors to any blog. If you’d like to invite others to publish posts or help approve comments on your blog, you can invite them to be a Contributor, Editor, or Author. Contributors cannot upload images. If you want users to receive updates each time you publish new content you can invite them to be a follower/viewer.
To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings
Then see:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-users-to-your-site
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-viewers-to-a-private-siteThe invitees will have to register a WordPress.COM username account which requires an email address only, but does not need to register a blog. That requirement is because the software has to be able to differentiate between hackers and official users and allow access only to those with username accounts and official roles on the blog.
Username accounts are required but registering blogs under them is not required.
If the person being invited to contribute to your blog does not already have one, he or she will have to register a WordPress.COM username account. Note that he or she does not need to register a blog. There is a just a username please option. The invitees who lack username accounts select the “username only” option here: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1
NOTE that as you have an account you would have to log out and clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies to witness the process as the invitees without accounts would experience it.
Upon receipt of the invitation the invitee will need to click the “Accept Invitation” button in the invitation email. If the invitee is logged into their WordPress.com username account, he or she will be taken directly to your blog. If not, he or she will be taken to the log-in screen, where he or she can either log in, or can register a new WordPress.COM user account.
Note that invitees who do create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.
Note that invitees who do create a new WordPress.com account at that point will still need to return to the invitation email and click the “Accept Invitation” button after doing so.
Lastly, there is a built-in spammer prevention so send out only 10 invitations at one point in time and then wait and manage those before sending out 10 more.

No. The site can be either Public and available to everyone with internet access or it can be private and available only to those who accept you invitation. Read https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Oh I might not have said enough. If private what do I do and how specifically do I add my followers? If I want new people how would I do that and of course if being private nobody
can see my posts I’m not following? Or I guess they can if they follow my followers site that reblogs? I’m guessing on that. I’d guess for the minimal times I get reblogs they’d go to my site see private and ask permission. I really hope I can just block non WP users -
I already provided that information above. You need actually read what I posted closely please and your need to click through to the support docs I linked to so you find the answer(s) to your question(s).

Time thief I had read that before. It basically says then people have to try to view my page and request to be allowed. I understand that part but if people do not attempt to view my site I’d lose everyone unless for some reason a bunch look or I guess I can check their site and click a post and paste a message advising them about the privacy similar to linking or advising to an award or nomination? I’m guessing that’s the options which is what I was afraid of writing hundreds of these. If I did should I do it before I go private or can I do it after? I ask knowing if I block other things I have to unblock someone if I block all to advise someone. It’s a big hassle but I’m being spied on by 5 non WP people and they’re actually costing me work and worse.

I was writing as I just was when you posted. I suggest switching to decaf as you always bite someone’s head off

You don’t appear to have read the support doc on privacy settings that I linked to above. https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

You also do not appear to have read the code of conduct posted at the head of the support forums https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-forums-community-standards?replies=1 or what is below every comment box here.

First off I said lay off the caffeine and being you responded to me don’t say not to talk about people in a post when I responded to you.
Second I was in an er said that I was in pain and somewhat confused and said I’m having a very bad time. I said that in English which you clearly speak very well. Yet you didn’t acknowledge my points.
Third I read the link as I had before and like I said I’m a bit off and I was in a lot of pain in an ER. Why you mentioned site subjects is beyond me as I follow all TOS and there are porn writers with curses in titles here but I digress. The fact that I wanted to go private and not wanting to have to invite everyone I want was clear as you are attractive. Yes that’s a compliment. I have to do what I didn’t want and invite everyone. You made a second error saying I didn’t read when basically I asked if there’s a work around for this and something else you’re wrong about and read and learn Hun. Not exact words or if new ppl would have no ability which is not in your links or on WordPress. I find work around a daily that get FAQs written about often.
If you want to play he said she said I will. I wanted to not lose people you said I will thank you. I’ll have to invite everyone else, a pain in the ass but you were too nasty to read I hoped to avoid that and how a person new, would be able to follow, which is not in anything I read from reading my material unless, as I stated me following them and inviting them. That’s a whole lot of crap to do. Plus it will hurt new followers unless I missed it. I did just have 4 pain shots so excuse me. Plus I said I’m in pain at a DR and you down talked me twice as you short answered me while I was responding to your posts like a real jerk.
I can say on LinkedIn google plus Fb and others only friends or followers can of set to private and that’s what I hoped along with the oh you may like this person was an option but instead you were nasty. Got it genius?
You called me out on something a month ago and I proved you wrong. First off this site is for me like I told you a month ago. It does nothing for me and will be a place to collect writings I will publish. You said I can’t put awards in my sidebar that were too big. Guess what genius, I resized them using the Word Press widget tool and problem solved, they are well regarded by my followers and don’t effect my social media. Perhaps that 10 years on WP would’ve been better served like making fries. Bc I with a couple of months found a work around and have helped hundreds of people. This from a 10 year WP user and I’m a problem solver for 30.
I’m off my game and even what you wrote speaks in a manner not super consistent. But I will have to invite everyone and lose potential new people. The purpose of the question. Perhaps you should find something else better to do than give people shit when they are responding to you and you quick replied. I can do that all day and I’ll win. I have a rep looking over your last several holier than thou nasty set of email responses, I didn’t say to have her taken down but I was asked if I wanted you gone. I said no. Like I said read slower, switch to decaf and realize I multi task more things in an hour than you do all day and switch subjects and do not respond to me unless you are ready to apologize for jumping to conclusions and telling me a month plus ago having awards on my sidebar wouldn’t get fixed when (I fixed them a month ago myself ). Ok?Sent from my iPhone
