Is it possible to not have posts show up on the homepage/notify subscribers?
-
I was just wondering – is it possible to publish posts so that it’s not on the homepage? My blog is running focused so if I wanted to make a non-running related post, is it possible to only be able to access those post through a link (without a password)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have two choices.
(1) All posts on the front page.
(2) A static front page and posts on a different page.By default the front page of your blog displays all published posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. That is for the convenience of your returning visitors.
However, if you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.
To do that create two pages first http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Front page:
Posts page:Custom menu information
Technically you can’t post to more than one page on any blog but do read on. Static Pages and dynamic Category Pages are not the same. The former cannot automatically update but the latter do.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/If you want to have pages that do update then they must be replaced by dynamic category pages (and sub-category pages) that will automatically update every time you publish a post assigned to the relevant category and/or sub-category.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories and sub-categories pages into the custom menu, and order them as you wish.

Hello!
You could set your homepage to static but that has a tendency to impact search engine rankings. Any posts you do make can be set-up to appear somewhere else with a custom menu.

Thanks for the suggestion guys! I guess I should have mentioned that I’m on wordpress.org – is there a plugin that allows it or an alternation in the code to allow on category to not show up on the homepage?

I should have mentioned that I’m on wordpress.org
Yes you ought to have stated that up front rather than wasting time by posting here because our support docs do not apply to ant sites that aren’t hosted by WordPress.COM.
This is the WordPress.COM support forum where we provide support only for blogs hosted by WordPress.COM and that’s not one of them. You are posting to the wrong support forum and we cannot help you here.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
Sorry for wasting your time. switched to .org recently and assumed the functions are similar
