Is it possible to only show excerpt on the Fediverse with the free plan?

    Hi!

    Thank you first of all for letting us send posts to the Fediverse. That is awesome in and by itself.

    The only thing I dislike, using it on a free plan with WordPress.com is that the whole post is shown on there. I cannot find the settings to show what I’d like. Aka if I’d like to show only the title, the excerpt and perhaps the tags for example.

    Is that possible on the free plan? If so, where are the settings? If not, what plan do I need in order to change this?

    Heya, don’t know if you found a solution to this, but if you use Publicize (AKA Post Automatically to Social Media) only a portion of your WordPress.com post will appear on your main Mastodon account and people will need to visit your WordPress.com site in order to comment.

    If you opted to “Enter the Fediverse” creating a separate Mastodon account for your website, your entire post will be shared there and people will be able to reply to your post directly on Mastodon and those comments will also appear on your WordPress.com website. AFAIK, currently there’s not a way to share only a small portion of your post when using this option.

    In short, you can do both or select one or the other.
