Is it possible to register a domain name (for 5$) without mapping it to a blog?

  I registered a domain name to map to my blog, and would now like to register a second domain to simply have as a backup, but without necessarily mapping it to my blog. Would it be possible to register a second domain without paying the 13$ mapping fee?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  It is not. The registration and mapping are a package. You can register the domain with us or elsewhere, but each domain must have mapping.
