Is it possible to restore an old version without a backup?
-
First of all, thanks for reading.
Quite a few months ago, I decided to test other themes for my old blog – but after a bit of dabbling, I realized that my original theme was now inaccessible. I can’t tell if it no longer exists or was no longer “free”, but either way, I lost the ability to revert back to how my old blog used to be.
In response – and rather foolishly – I asked support to flush the entire thing and tried to rebuild a new version from scratch – but alas, I’m unable to achieve desired results.
So, I’m wondering if there is a chance that an old version might be restorable via support. I suspect the answer is “no”, but I want to make sure before I do anything drastic… again.
Thanks for reading!

Hi there,
We do not offer user-accessible backups on free sites (it is an option on our Business and Commerce plans) so there is not a way to recover lost content like that. Such actions are permanent and cannot be undone, which is why we were sure to advise you before proceeding.
I suspect the answer is “no”, but I want to make sure before I do anything drastic… again.
What are you planning on doing? Maybe we can advise you so as to avoid any future heartache? Also while this is not a perfect solution, I do see that your site has been saved in the internet archive (a project we are not connected with) and you may be able to copy/paste old content from here to save it that way: https://web.archive.org/web/20180802062920/https://ropedrink.wordpress.com/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
