Is it possible to separate my blog from my website?

    I would like to separate my blog from the rest of my website, or have my blog redirected to a different website that is not wordpress. Is it possible to do this?

    The main goal is to be able to show people my blog, and not have them see the other options on my website (which I still do need for separate reasons).

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    I’m not completely sure what you want to do.

    Do you mean you want two separate sites, on a website for your business and another one to use as a blog?

    Please provide a bit more details about exactly what it is you’re trying to achieve, and I’ll be happy to give you the steps to do that :)

    Great, thank you for the response. I want to be able to direct people to my blog and have it not be connected to the rest of my website. Is this possible? The work on my blog is mostly journalistic, and I don’t want it paired with my wedding, family, etc. work anymore. What do you think would be the best way to go about this, preferably without starting a whole new website?

    You will need to create a new free WordPress.com site to use as your blog, but you don’t need to recreate all your content – you can simply transfer it to the new site. Use this link to create a new site:

    https://wordpress.com/start/site/

    Then do the following (if you already have content you want to move over):

    1. Go through your posts list on the existing site, and give all posts that need to be moved to the blog a specific category.

    2. Go to My Site ->Settings ->Export, and export everything from that category.

    3. Go to the new site, My Site ->Settings ->Import, and import those posts that should be moved over.

    4. Go back to the original site, and delete the posts you’ve imported to the blog.

    If you have followers on the photography site that you want to move over to the blog instead, so they will see new posts on your blog in their Reader or email instead of the photography site, let me know once you’ve created the new site and I can move those over for you.
