Is it possible to set up a site/blog with English & Spanish options?
-
Is it possible to set up a site/blog with language options for readers? I’m interested in a bilingual site, English and Spanish. I am not interested in some web translation service; rather I want to write content in both languages and let the reader pick.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ah, thanks, I have exactly the same question (for me english-dutch). I was thinking of making two separate blogs (one Dutch, one English) with the same content. But.. that would mean separating the subscribers too. I dont want that..

I face the same problem all the time being in the french part of Canada. The easiest way is to have 2 sites. But you can also use category to arrange your content based on language and add those categories in your menus.

I have exactly the same question… I am bilingual and I want to write my own posts in English AND in Spanish (no automatic translations). It’s a travel blog with fotos… How can I do a bilingual blog in WordPress… any special theme or upgrade?

There are no multilingual themes. You can set only one interface language here > Settings > General. There is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install plugins. We cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any other JavaScript widgets, as the code is stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

Note: You can copy and paste the code on my Translations page and then replace every occurrence of my blog’s URL in the code with your own blog’s URL.Re: bilingual blogging and/or mutlilingual blogging
If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done. You can have two or more blogs in different languages and interlink them via categories and custom menus. There’s also a workaround for publishing posts in two or more languages in the same blog. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/
