Is it possible to take an existing blog and split it into two blogs, with a new name?

    I have a blog which I love. I have two major categories in the entries and I would like to create a new blog with a different name and move some of the entries on the existing blog to that new address. Is that possible?

    Hello!

    Yes, you can ‘transfer’ selected posts of your blog to a new WordPress blog of your choice. You can export posts of your choice (using the WordPress exporter) and import them to your new blog. To do the same, you’ll have to follow these steps (in the respective order)

    1) Create a new blog, with the name and URL of your choice using WordPress.com
    2) Log in to your current blog and proceed to the ‘Tools’ > ‘Export’ menu.
    3) Choose the ‘Posts’ radio button. You’ll see a few drop-down lists appear on-screen. Choose the posts you want (you can filter according to categories, date ranges and posting statuses).

    4) Once the files are exported (in an XML format), log in to the dashboard of your new blog and import the contents using ;Tools > Import’, choose the option ‘WordPress’ and import the XML file you just exported.     Bingo – your posts have been ‘transferred’ to your new blog!

    Btw, don’t forget to delete the corresponding posts from your old blog to prevent duplication.
