Is it possible to unlock an address blocked by deleting a site?

A few months ago I started toying with the idea of making a wordpress blog for my Rotary club.

I registered and tinkered with coffscityrotary.wordpress.com, but then gave up and deleted the site.

I’d now like to give it another go, but cannot find any way to reclaim the address. Is it possible?

    Hello,
Once you delete your blog, you will not be able to get it back.

Addresses (URLs) for blogs that have been deleted by the owner will remain deleted. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow someone to take over the address of a blog that was previously owned and deleted by its original/previous owner.

    Thanks for the reply.

I was aware of that policy, but it implies that the person seeking the reinstatement of the address is not the original owner. In this case I am the original owner.

Later on the in the policy it says “we do have the right to reclaim or delete a blog/address for any reason” although that right is rarely exercised.

I’m hoping someone ‘official’ might see the topic and give me some advice on how to get WordPress to exercise that right.

It does not matter whether or not you were the original owner.

To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and it must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.

That right is only exercised by Staff only when something goes wrong with the software at the WordPress.com end. It is not exercised when any person who ignored the multiple warnings that deleting a blog URL was permanent and irreversible and then ignored the same warning in the verification email and clicked the link to delete the blog. Sorry.
You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
