Is it really possible to connect Klout with self-hosted WP blogs via Jetpack?
-
To answer the first question, /www/ should just be an alias of /public_html/, so stick with /public_html/ if you can.
As for the second, http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL may help, though I recommend asking the folks at http://wordpress.org/support/ if you need further assistance.
-
Ah, I fixed it already :) Thank you!
Now I am just trying to figure out whether both URLs should be one and the same (http://www.muiiio.com), or one should contain more information regarding the WP installation.
What would you recommend, based on that directory structure I gave earlier?
-
From what you listed before, I’d say that both should be the same, but http://wordpress.org/support/ are the folks who know more about the self-hosted version of WordPress.
We really only support WordPress.com blogs and Jetpack here.
-
Thank you, you’ve been most helpful :)
If I figure it out, I will come back here and post my findings. Someone else could benefit too :)

We’re still getting a “page not found” for the file.
Entering your blog’s URL at http://jetpack.me/support/debug/ should provide you with some data that you can share with your hosting provider.

Oh, sorry, I forgot you couldn’t see everything that I do.
Basically, your XML-RPC file is returning a 404 not found error for us, which usually means that they’re blocking it (or us) for some reason.
Are they noticing anything in the server access logs that might help?
Basically, try connecting Klout or Jetpack again before contacting them, so you can provide them with a specific date and time.
-
They say the xmlrpc is just fine.
What URL can I give them, so that they can check whether it’s blocked? WordPress.com, Jetpack.me? -
Specifically it’s http://www.muiiio.com/xmlrpc.php
When you attempt to connect Klout, they need to check the check the access logs for http://www.muiiio.com/xmlrpc.php at that time to find out why it’s returning a 404 (not found).
-
I meant what is the URL that the request is coming from (I think that’s what they were asking me, so that they could check whether it’s not blocked). I also pointed them to this thread here and gave them the screenshots I gave you as well. They are working on the issue.
It’s now 3:20AM here, so I will continue tomorrow :)
Again, thank you for being so helpful!
-
Update:
My hosting provider said that the requests were identified by the system as “false positives” – they have now added an exception to their rules,.However, I’m getting a new error :)
http://www.muiiio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Blog_Jetpackerror.pngThe screenshot includes the URL, since this time it’s not WordPress.com, but rather my blog’s URL.
What would you advise I do?
-
That is one long URL…
Do you think the URL could give you more clarity? I am not sure whether I should post it here, however.
-
Curious info.
My Blogs, as they appear on WordPress.com:
http://www.muiiio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/WordPress_myBlogs.png
Notice how it says “My 17 posts” – the posts are actually 272…When I click on “My 17 posts” in order to go to the posts, the following happens:
http://www.muiiio.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/SSL_error-107.png
SSL Error 107 (and URL is at my blog).Ideas what this could be, or where I need to take this issue?
-
More info:
All of the links under my blog (Dashboard, New post, Drafts, My 17 posts, Stats) link to my blog via https (SSL) – and I do not have an SSL certificate. The buttons, however (272 Posts, 87 Comments) link without https – just http://www.muiiio.com/…
So, could this be the problem with Klout as well? Do I need to install an SSL certificate?
-
No, SSL shouldn’t be a problem, but you may need to reconnect Jetpack.
To do that, deactivate and delete the Jetpack plugin, then reinstall, reactivate, and reconnect it.
-
I’m back just to report, that Klout have told me it may be an issue on their part.
I’m sharing this in case someone else has the issue and is trying to locate a solution in this thread – no solution for me as of yet.
As soon as I figure it out, I will come back here and post the end result.
