Is it still possible to get a .travel.blog subdomain from WordPress?

    Hi WordPress Team,

I recently came across the 2018 blog post (yes, I know I’m a bit late 😅) where WordPress.com was offering free subdomains like something.travel.blog, something.tech.blog, and others, depending on the blog’s topic.

I’m particularly interested in a subdomain like limotours.travel.blog for a site I’m building related to travel and transportation services.

However, during the current site creation process, I only see the default wordpress.com subdomains or paid domain options — nothing like .travel.blog.

Is this program still active in any form?
Is there any way to manually request a .travel.blog subdomain at this point?

Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

Hey there, in addition to what @staartmees said, when you are on the domain page, make sure to type in the full site name exactly as you want it and then on the domain suggestion page, look for and click the “skip purchase” button at the right of the site name you’ve chosen “WordPress.com subdomain” This typically will appear just under the first two suggested paid domains.

Hmm. What a difference an extra dot makes. You have to pass the first option of .blog (which at first glance appears free but won’t be next year).
