Is it still possible to podcast with free wordpress?
-
Trying to post my first podcast. All instruction say to use the blubrry powerpress plugin but it says I must upgrade to a business account ($24/month!) to install plugins.
Is this new because I’ve seen nothing about this in any instructions for podcast posting. And isnthe any way around this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
All instruction say to use the blubrry powerpress plugin but it says I must upgrade to a business account ($24/month!) to install plugins.
As you are trying to install plugin, it is asking you to upgrade to Business plan. Only Business plan offers the feature of installing custom plugin on WordPress.com.
You can follow this support document on podcasting.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/podcasting/However, you’ll have to purchase either of Personal, Premium or Business plan to add audio to your blog.
Hope this helps!

Hi there. Upgrading to a paid plan is only necessary if you want to upload your audio files to your WordPressdotcom site.
If your audio files are hosted elsewhere (like Cloudup, Mixcloud or archive.org), you can embed them. As it says under Point #3 in the support doc that @krutidugade linked to:
3. Upload or embed an audio file into this post using any of the methods explained in the Audio support page.
Note that audio embeds from Soundcloud and Audiomack should not be used, as iTunes is unable to download the audio file from the embed. If you embed from an external source, you’ll want to test first that itunes can connect and download the mp3 file.
Hope that helps.
