Is it stupid to include comments from a spammer?
-
Just occasionally, one of the spam comments is so well written that it genuinely appears to have been written about the post.
I’d quite like to leave some of them in place, after removing the link back to the originating site.
Does this make sense – or should I just rely on genuine comments? And what are the dangers / disadvantages of doing what I suggested?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The disadvantage to doing this is that you “unspam” them which means that the next time they wander through they could very well flood your blog with tons of spam for viagra and anything else you can think of. The reason they are hitting you with comments that seem legit is to get you to unspam them; to open that door so they can blast you, and not only you, but everyone else as well since with you unspamming them they might be taken out of the spam database.

Ah right.
Thanks for explaining that – it seems so obvious now. They will definitely stay flagged as spam.

not only that, but spammers google for their spam and if they see it’s still up, even with the link removed, they will pass around theURL for that post and tons of spammers will hit you on that particular post.

I would also think that Google might downgrade a site if it had too much Spam comments on it even without the link.
I also have a general site that runs from political commentary to recipes and I struggle with the general comment that links back to a blog that is a bit spammy – never quite sure what to do with those comments.
