Is it true that all WordPress.com sites are GDPR compliant like the expert said?

  Is it true that all WordPress.com sites are GDPR compliant like the expert told me? Does this also count if you bought a .com domain in a upgrade for your WordPress.com site?

  Hi there,

  Unless that expert is a lawyer who specialises in EU online privacy regulations, you should not be listening to their advice, and no lawyer who knows what they’re doing would make vague, blanket statements like that about a commercial service they’re not part of.

  The only people who can say whether or not a particular site is compliant is a European court, and the only people you should trust regarding compliance for your own site is an attorney in the field.

  All we can do is provide you with information about what data we collect about visitors to your site and how we store and use that data.

  So then how do I know if my site is GDPR compliant and that I won’t go to prison? I am from the US so they don’t have EU courts here. I think you just want me to kill myself by making me super paranoid and anxious. So thank you for motivation to kill myself. I won’t do it, but it’s nice to know you want me to anyways.

  I did but what the guy above was implying is that you’ll be extradited to the EU and serve a life sentence in prison and that it’s not safe for a US citizen to have a blog.

  I said nothing of the sort.

  I said we cannot tell you whether or not a site is compliant, and that we cannot advise you on how to make your site compliant. Only a lawyer can.

  All we can do is provide with details of what information we collect regarding visitors to your site, but beyond that we cannot advise you.

  I suggest you actually read the link we’ve now provided twice in this thread, as that goes into this in much more detail.
