Is my site a valid excuse to use WordPress

I need a site with three main areas.
1.A static home/about page
2. An archive page with ecommerce abiltiys.
3. AND Most importantly a “Whats New Page” Something that my client can update daily if they need to. I also want a section of my whats new page to appear on my HOME/ABOUT page. Maybe showing the 3 most recent entries.
IS WORDPRESS Right for me. Thanks Everyone!
*Also I just want a reason to start using WordPress software.

Sounds to me that the self install of wordpress over @ http://wordpress.org would be a better option than wordpress.com
