Is reply to blog notifications by email possible?

  I am thinking of switching over from Posterous and did a successful import of my space there to WordPress today.

  However, I’m concerned about whether my current subscribers will be able to add comments to blog notifications successfully or not.

  With Posterous, they just replied by email and their comment got posted.

  But they seem to have to actually go to my blog site to enter their comment. And the input form still has a place for their name and email address, even if I turn of the requirement for email addresses in the settings.

  The issue is that many of my subscribers are old friend. I mean old in all respects – like in their 80s and 90s. And I can’t really have them jumping through hoops to create a new account to keep track of.

  Is there no way of me “white listing” their email addresses so they can reply by email without having to go into their browser to comment?
