Is support really out of town until Aug 15?

I got an error message on my dashboard which must be in error. I have contacted support to have the matter looked at and I started searching the forum to get an idea how long these things take. I found a thread that indicated that support was out of town until 08/15! I would hate to have my site down for an entire week over a mistake. Is this a realistic time frame?

Sorry, I know there are limits regarding what can be discussed here but I’m very upset and looking for some reassurance.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, volunteers don’t have any more information than you do. I’ve seen one or two of them pop up in the forum this week, but that’s about as good as it gets.

If you want to search for a solution, describe the problem in more detail and maybe one of the volunteers will help you.

It’s pretty standard. I posted a review for Rise of the Apes (good movie) on my site (http://lebeauleblog.wordpress.com/). Everything seemed to be okay. I thought it would be good to have a link at the bottom that took readers to other reviews, so I added a link to my “reviews” category. Next thing I know, I get a message saying my blog was deactivated for a TOS violation!

I think it has to be some kind of a mistake, so I followed the customer support link. But I haven’t gotten so much as an e-mail indicating what was wrong or when someone will look at it.

I didn’t want to get too into detail here because I saw that the volunteers can’t say much and don’t want to have TOS discussions in the forum. I’m just hoping someone can confirm that these will be looked at within a reasonable time frame.

A week seems like an awfully long time to be down (especially when there was no violation that I am aware of). I have already heard from several readers wanting to know what’s going on!

Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge as a moderator in another WordPress.com forum, if you send a message via the “Click here to contact us as soon as possible” link, it goes to a special team that is always on duty. Please be patient while they get back to you and check your spam folder in case your email got there. They will only discuss this with you via email, not through these forums.

Thank you! That’s the reassurance I was looking for!

I’ll wait for the e-mail. Hopefully it comes soon.

The TOS department is working – if you contacted them using the link they gave you they should be getting back to you in a timely basis – occasionally mistakes are made and then the blogs are reactivated.

That is good to hear. I have to think this is one of the mistakes you’re talking about. As soon as someone looks at this, I would have to think they will reactivate the site.

Funny story, I do a column about famous actors who don’t work much anymore. A few months back, I did a piece on Sean Young. The article became somewhat popular when Ms. Young went on Celebrity Rehab. Anyway, Sean Young found it and posted a comment that she was unhappy with being written about in a blog.

I checked out the e-mail that was associated with the comment and sure enough it was the real Sean Young. So now that the site is down, I am hearing from readers asking if Sean Young got me shut down.

Hahahahahaha, that’s both awesome and hilarious.

It’s extremely unlikely she had anything to do with it. “Somebody was mean about me online” is the kind of thing they get daily. If her lawyers had claimed that you’d defamed her, you’d probably have heard about it immediately, via email.

Most likely, one of those sites you linked to brought the ban hammer down on you. I linked to a site and POOF my blog was suspended; it turned out that site was on a list of classic spammy sites, and one link was enough. I just contacted them with “what did I do this time?” and they told me, I removed the link, and it was all good.

Of course, if it turns out Sean Young DID get you suspended, surely you could get on TV for that.

Yeah, we laughed about the Sean Young thing. Her comment was pretty hysterical. She called me a “psychos” and told me to “get a life”. *shrug* The thing is, the article itself was pretty complimentary. I actually defended her. But I’m glad she found me. It’s been a running gag ever since.

In order to verify it was really her, my wife checked out her e-mail address on Facebook. She accidentally sent her a friend request. So now my wife and Sean Young are FB friends. As you say, awesome and hilarious.

This is why I have loved blogging so much!

I’m sure you’re right about the links. That HAS to be it!
