Is the export function up and running?
-
I wanted a backup of the content of my blog to date. I went to my dashboard, clicked on tools, clicked on export, chose ‘all content’, and clicked on “Download Export File”.
After a few minutes of “Waiting for disperser.wordpress.com . . . ” I get the following error message:
“This webpage is not available”
I’ve tried this a number of times, each with the same result. I’m wondering if that feature is temporarily down, or malfunctioning.
Should I keep trying? Should I wait a day? Is there some other procedure I should follow?
Thanks for any help.

Hello,
I wasn’t able to duplicate any errors when exporting your blog. It may have been a temporary connection issue. I’ve gone ahead and uploaded a zipped copy of your export to your dashboard. You can access it in the Media > Library section of your dashboard.

I just tried it, and it failed again. I also checked the connection (54Mbits download speed/10.4Mbits upload) to various sites, to my own site to WordPress in general. No problem except when I try the export.
It’s late, so I’ll try again tomorrow.
Also, while I see the file, I don’t see a download option. Selecting it only gives me the option to delete it or get details.
I’ll try tomorrow (oops – later this day after I sleep) accessing it while editing a post, or do a search for how to transfer it down to my PC.
Meanwhile, thanks for the quick response and the help, and for not telling me to take a hike.

Come to think of it, I remember a post about people wanting to download their Media Library, and being told that was not possible.
I might be misremembering, but if I can download one file, why wouldn’t someone be able to download all of them?
Anyway, Goodnight.

Hello,
It is possible that your export is failing for you because of the quantity of content in your blog. If you ever need a backup feel free to open a support request.
If you’d like to download the backup I’ve uploaded you can do so by accessing Media > Library from your dashboard. From there, click on the zip file. You will see a URL in the Attachment Details page. Copying and pasting that URL in a browser should prompt you to download the file.
