Is the "free" in "claim free domain" after paying for the personal plan a scam?
-
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to pay for the personal plan so that I can map my own domain to my wordpress account. I paid for the plan, happily clicked on the “claim free domain” button and then saw: Mapping my already paid for domain “for free” costs 13$ a year. Is this real? Or am I just too stupid to see the actual option to claim my free domain mapping?
If I really have to pay again for a service that was included in a product that was sold to me I’d call that a scam.

Hi there,
Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or map one you already own.
Here are the steps to map your own domain, just in case you were in the wrong section.

Hope that helps.

I looked at that, prior to paying for the personal plan. It says “Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain or map one you already own.”
BUT: When I click on “claim free domain” it says I have to pay 13$ to map my existing domain. Can anybody tell me if that’s an error or if I really have to pay 13$ additional to my plan?

@manuelwbraeuer Hi there, if you upgraded to a paid plan, you have access to direct support from Staff via the contact form at https://wordpress.com/help/contact when you are logged in to the username account that purchased the upgrade. They’ll be able to sort you out.

OK, I found the solution. I didn’t realize that I had a free domain that I looked at in my shopping cart (and didn’t see the shopping cart) and now I deleted those and now I have access to my free domain mapping. I am glad that it actually was me being stupid. Thanks. ;)

No worries, but put that information aside for the next time you do need it. All the best!
