is the search engine description taken from 1st 2 lines of each page content?

Can anyone confirm that for me?

I’m used to having more control over what goes into this description, so would like to be able to make the first 2 lines of each page work for my client – if that is the only way to do it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Laura,

It’s more accurate to say that Google typically pulls the excerpt from the ‘description’ meta property of a page.

WordPress assigns the beginning text from a Post or Page’s body into that meta property to increase the likelihood that Google’s link description will be the first lines of text from your page’s body.

We can’t 100% control how Google will index a site, but that meta property is pretty accurate.

So your method described is what I’d recommend as well.

    Best,

    -Alex G.
