Is the WP Forum same as Support?

I was recently thinking, “What if I decided to create topics for interesting discussions on WordPress rather than Google+ or Twitter, since I’m using the very WP platform to create my ideas?”
But I notice that the Forums are filled with questions and how-to’s. Is this what the digital public square was created for? I wasn’t sure. If so, I think I have my answer on exchanging thoughts, values, ideas on here as opposed to another social media platform.

Yes these are technical support forums only. No they are not chat forums as that is what blogs, chatrooms and social networks are for.

that was fast! thanks for the links. makes much sense now. the “Ideas” Forum description under Forums led me to think it was more than technical.

That and “Forums” was separated from “Support”, but Support is still forum. So if I wanted to exchange ideas about blogging (not about a specific blog post, sorry I didn’t make that clear), I should hold it somewhere else?

As this is a free speech environment I will share the fact with you that I am grinding my teeth every time anyone posts discussion thread here in the Ideas Forum. I consider every one of them to spam despite what Staff say about allowing them, and I am not alone when it comes to holding that opinion. I do not know a single Volunteer answering questions here who does not agree with me.
It’s my opinion based over 8 years of experience answering questions here that allowing discussion threads to be posted in the Ideas Forum is a big mistake that will lead only to the kind of behaviors that resulted in our previous off topic discussion forums being closed.
So you are allowed to post discussion here because Staff say so.

We are on the same page for sure.Those who want to discuss “blogging” subjects can register in the classes provided by Staff and each class has a special private forum for support.

I believe I predate all support staff members except one even being on staff. My responsee were as diplomatic as I could make them without being frank enough to be suspended for sharing them here. lol :D
