Is there a code/setting to insert post publication date?
-
My blog posts (once published) don’t display the date they were published on. Is there a code I can put in my posts to automatically display the publication date?
Right now, the only way to know the date of a post is to look at its URL.
I created an html “template” that I reuse with every new post. And while I could manually insert the publication date, it would look much nicer if there was a way to automatically display a post’s publication date just below the Title.
I could edit the Header code in the CSS to include the publication date if I knew what that command was (if there is one.)
Thx.

What is the URL of the site you are referring to please? Is it this one http://mugsysrapsheet.wordpress.com/ or is it another one?
-
The post editor for this forum did not offer my personal URL as one of the options on the post, but the URL it attached to the end provides a link to my blog.
Thx.

https://mugsysrapsheet.wordpress.com/ is an older site appearing to be devoid of much blogger created content. It is also wearing a very old retired theme. Themes are retired when they do not support all WordPress.COM features and the recommendation is to switch themes to a newer one. That is the best way to go so switch themes first please.
re: switching themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. We have a preview function. No content is lost when switching themes on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. It does not matter if the site is private or public. See: https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/Check these themes out first for date display https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/right-sidebar
Know that only if you have purchased either a Business Plan or Premium plan will you be bale to edit the CSS. https://wordpress.com/pricing/ But do read Note 2 below.
Note 1: If you have the required upgrade you can use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can create a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need with CSS editing.
Note 2: You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

http://mugsysrapsheet.com/ is hosted by 1 and 1 so WordPress.com support isn’t the right place to ask when you’re using the WordPress.org software I’m afraid. Although I’m sure timethief has a comprehensive reply all ready to go in the meantime perhaps you should read these links:

re: http://mugsysrapsheet.com/
This is WordPress.COM support and that site is not on our servers. We do not provide support for local installs of WordPress.ORG software, or for WordPress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to WordPress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites WordPress.COM account page.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support.
The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/
If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Some days about 30% who post here are posting to the wrong support forum. Head over to The wordpress.ORG support forum is at http://wordpress.org/support.
