Is there a first year free plan?

  Hello,
  I’m trying to set up an WordPress account and thought the first year was free. Is that not true?

  Hi there,

  WordPress.com plans are not free for the first year.

  When you purchase a plan, you get a free custom domain for the first year.

  You could also start with a free site(yourfreesite.wordpress.com), and subsequently decide if any of the paid plans is right for you.

  Please note that with your free site, you would not be able to use a custom domain.

  However, when you purchase a WordPress.com plan, you have a 14-day refund window.
