Is there a limit to how much words and photos you can put on free wordpress

    Wordpress has stopped letting me add photos to my blog – is this because there is not enough room? Do I need to pay to get more room?

    There’s no limit to how many words you can use but there is a limit to how much media a free site can store. For your site that limit will be 3GB. Newer free sites are limited to 1GB. You can check easily enough by looking in your Media Library. So if you want to continue with your photo-heavy blog the best solution will be to upgrade your free site to a Personal plan. That will double your storage capacity for images and also have the added benefit of allowing you to remove those pesky adverts that free sites are subject to.

    PS I clicked on the first image on your site and my laptop spent 5 minutes attempting to load a Carousel. I eventually gave up waiting. Perhaps optimizing your images for the web before uploading them would help save space. I don’t know how many images you have uploaded. My free site contains 3000 images and I have still only used 26% of my 3GB.

    I recommend the free program, caesium, for resizing and compressing pictures.

    I’d also recommend you think about opening a dropbox account to host any pictures that you feel you need to have full sized. The free dropbox starter gives you 2gb of free storage.
