Is there a problem on WordPress with loading images?

I have previously uploaded images to my blogs but recently had to reset my netbook and reinstate all my drivers etc. I have not used my blog, other than to read other blogs since. Am I missing some vital piece of software that was there before or is it WordPress iteself that is having issues? Everything else seems to work but when I click to select files nothing happens at all. I can write a blog and post it just not add images – when one of my blogs is about photographs that’s not so good. Help please.

Thanks for responding. In answer to your question – no the images are not displayed in my media library. I do have old images displayed (although there appears to be a delay before I can see them) but I want to add new images to the library. I have down loaded images from a camera memory card onto my netbook stored in the pictures library and I am trying to bring these into the WordPress Media library to use in my blog. It appears to be an issue with my netbook as I have successfully uploaded a picture earlier today using WordPress on my tablet.
