Is there a problem with the blog traffic stats?

First off, thank you for fixing the entry portal for Safari so that I go directly to the login page again.

Now, a new problem: it appears that as of Saturday, May 17th, something changed dramatically with my blog stats on all of my WordPress.com blogs. Whereas my page opens to unique visitors ratio is normally in the 1.5-2.0 range, suddenly that ratio has skyrocketed to anywhere from 5-15 page opens per visitor. What happened?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The discrepancy between the number of views and visitors in your stats is due to how we calculate those stats for your blog. Typically a view is reported within five minutes, while it can take up to two hours to report new visitors. At any given time, your visitor count may lag behind your view counts. (It’s possible that there was a delay in our number crunching on Saturday that made it take longer than usual for the visitor stats to catch up — your stats look ok to me right now.)

One thing you can do is wait until the following day, and then check your stats for the previous day — that will help ensure that all the stats from that day have been calculated and you’re getting the complete data.

I hope that helps explain it! We also have more details about your blog’s stats here: Stats

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

    Thanks!

(And sorry for taking so long to say so.)

I am guessing that there was an extra delay last weekend. It has definitely sorted itself out now, but it was unusual, even within the context of how you describe stats normally working.

    Thanks again!
