Is there a recipe code I can put into my site that I moved to another server?

  • Unknown's avatar

I moved my site to be hosted by bluehost. I have many recipes on my site with you and I used the simple code [recipe=title”pancakes” servings-“2″difficulty=”easy”] then at the end of the recipe [/recipe]. This did not transfer. Is there some code you could tell me that I could put in? If I knew how much rework I had to do I wouldn’t have moved it. Thanks

Hello there! We certainly do have shortcode for recipes that you can embed. Instructions and details here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/recipes/
If you have questions about this, let me know. Cheers!

Thank you for responding, but if you read my statement you will see that I have used the short code in my recipes on the website that wordpress was hosting and it worked wonderfully. My problem is that when I moved my website to bluehost this short code does not work. I even rewrote the code and when I pulled up the website it showed the code. Is there something else I need to code to get the recipe to look like it did?

Hi again! I didn’t realize you were utilizing the same shortcode. Thanks for that info!

When I view your recipes, they look absolutely fine to my eye:

If possible, send me a screenshot, so I can better understand the issue from your perspective. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there. Just let me know when there’s something I should take a look at.

The page at the following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:

In all my browsers, your recipes look great.

If you’re not seeing them work properly, could you clear your cookies and cache and take another look:

    I hope this helps! Thanks.

Thanks, learned something new, how to make a screenshot. I did and it is in the media library of this website. The screenshot is of my other website that I transferred to blue host. I had taken an online web class about wordpress and had to open a site using a host. I had already started my free wordpress host site so when the class was over I transferred my wp host site to the blue host site under a different domain. That one is shenandoahemptynestliving.com When you open up the site it is still called Basic at it’s best. I know this is confusing. Thank you for your help. I am traveling today and will check here tomorrow to see if there is any code I could use to
    figure this out.

Aha! Well troubleshooting the correct site helps! I was looking into basic2best.com/. You’ve reached the support page for WordPress.com-hosted sites, and generally we can’t assist with self-hosted sites as we don’t have access to your files.

But, you are in luck! While the recipe shortcode hasn’t yet been installed for use on self-hosted Jetpack sites, there is a plugin that you can download and install (via via Plugins → Add New → Upload) in the meantime.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7621360/recipes.zip

Once the recipe shortcode has been added to Jetpack for general use, you can safely delete that plugin.

Hope you find this helpful. Many thanks!

Thank you for your time and help. I copied the website above and put it in my plugin search and I got many recipe related plugins. Is there a particular one that will help me. I have uploaded a plugin called recipe card that I am going to use for all of my new posts, I need something to reset my old post like they were when I was hosted with WP. Also is there a step to add the plugin to jetpack or does it automatically do it when you upload it? Thanks again.

Hi there! You should only have one plugin if you click the link I sent:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7621360/recipes.zip
It will be a zip file that you’ll download to you computer, and then install on your self-hosted site.

You will need to use that file if you want your recipe shortcode from WordPress.com to work on your self-hosted site. No other recipe plugin will work in the same manner.

Installing the plugin should work automatically. Here is a support document about plugins, if you need:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins

Good luck with this process. Thanks much.
