Is there a security issue with WordPress and Google Chrome for Mac?

  I had been using Chrome to test my site and all was fine until July 23 or so. I just deleted Chrome because I noticed links on several WordPress sites were being hijacked. I cleared my user data thinking maybe I had a cookie or some user data that was the source. The problem remained. I did not see the same behavior when using Firefox or Safari. I was using a recent version of Chrome on a Mac with OSX 10.9.5

  I should have noted the version of Chrome I was using before I deleted it. I installed Chrome on a new install of Mac OSX 10.9.5 without seeing the hijacking. So, I reinstalled Chrome onto the system where I experienced the hijacking and I no longer have the problem. I assume the issue was with the version of Chrome I deleted. For clarity, the old version of Chrome was opening ads from WordPress links on a number of WordPress sites (The ad pages were clearly not from the links that were being clicked). Some of the ad pages were hard drive warnings with unclosable windows that I had to force quit.

  Okay, this might have been an issue with a Chrome extension you installed. In any case, I’m happy it’s now sorted. Let us know if we can help!
