Is there a site that can help me use WordPress on my website?

    I have an account with wordpress only because a friend said that it can help me build a better website… other than a blog what can you really use wordpress for and can you only use it on this website? its there a tutorial, video preferably that can help me with this?

    sorry i’m terrible at looking things up and his links to tutorials all seem to be “look at our finished site and how it works”, not anything along the lines of, this is how you do it.

    i know this is a nub question, but it’s hard for me to look stuff up that i’ve no idea where to start looking it up at

    If you are building a website, wordpress works quite well for that and give you the option of using pages (static content) and/or posts (dynamic content) and it works extremely well as a content management system (CMS).

    At wordpress.COM, there are limitations that could get in the way such as not being able to use plugins or use themes you find on the internet (we have to use the themes at appearance > themes in our dashboard). There are also limitations on the code that we can incorporate. No iframes, no forms, no javascript.

    With a self-hosted wordpress blog though, your options are only limited by the plugins/extensions you can find or your ability to code your own using javascript or PHP scripting.
