Is there a theme that showcases both pages and posts on the front page?
-
Hi! I’m a big WordPress.com fan and have played around a lot with themes. I like showcasing selected posts on the front page and a lot of themes support that, but what I’m looking for now is a theme that showcases pages. The best I’ve found is the one I use on thia site: http://www.quadcopterphotography.wordpress.com
What I’m really looking for though is a theme that does that but at the same time keeps the actual blog posts on the front page. Does that exist?
If not, are there any other themes like the one above that allows you to feature several pages on the main page?
Thanks for any help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sketch has a front-page slider that lets you showcase both posts and pages (and portfolio projects!) – but I’m not sure it’s quite what you’re after:

If you’re looking for a magazine-style theme like Chronicle (the one you’re using now) you might like to take a look a these:

Oh sorry, I was using Singl when I wrote the post, then changed it! I now have a magazine-style theme like you suggested, but what I’m looking for is a magazine-style theme that works like Singl does. As far as I know the one I’m using now (Chronicle) can only feature posts on the main page.

Ah, thanks for mentioning Singl. I wasn’t actually sure how Chronicle and featured pages were connected. ;-)
You can actually set any theme to use a page as the front page – I thought I’d mention that just in case you weren’t aware. You can learn how in this guide.

One thing that comes to mind is that if you set your site to use a static page as the front page, you can opt to display recent posts in a sidebar or other widget area, if the theme supports one, using the Recent Posts Widget.
Would something like this accomplish what you’re after?

Haha yeah sorry about the mixed messages :P
The problem with a featured page is that you get one page only and no posts. Sure recent posts is a good idea, and one step further you could do a work-around by adding clickable images/banners manually in the sidebar.
But the ideal solution would be a theme that keeps the actual blog on the main page, allows for magazine-style featured posts *and* has the possibility for featured pages. There doesn’t seem to be one…
