Is there a trick to transferring media from wordpress.org?

I have completed export/import from adagiojournal.com to adagiojournal.wordpress.com. The source blog/media shows some 236 files, the new imported blog/media shows some 30 files.

The links that I have audited all still work because the source blog is still alive.

    Example orphaned media:

    1. http://adagiojournal.com/wp-content/uploads/requirements.pdf
    2. http://adagiojournal.com/wp-content/uploads/accomodation-plan.pdf

I never saw the option that was supposed to appear after selecting the XML file for import “Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files”.

Is there an automated process to recover these to the new wordpress.com blog? Manually moving and linking 200 files is not practical.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I flagged this for staff attention.

  • Judging by the URL, those were never attached to posts.

The importer can only import attached media, and in order to attach media, it must be uploaded while writing or editing the post or page.
