Is there a way of attaching archive files to posts?

  Or – in general – uploading archives? I find it almost unbelievable that e.g. such obvious choices as .zip or .tar.gz are plain blocked… or am I missing something?

  I’m afraid not, zip or tar files aren’t currently allowed for security reasons.
