Is there a way to acquire a blog address that has been deleted by another user?
-
I’d really like a specific blog address (sampleblog.wordpress.com) for my blog. The two options that would be great, one of them being perfect, are both already registered by someone else, but they’ve both also been deleted.
Is there some way I can acquire one or both of these blog addresses from wordpress or the current registrant?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No – once a name is deleted it is gone forever, even from the original owner. You need to pick a different name or register a custom domain name and map it to a blog

ok, next question, I’m looking into domain mapping and of course I’m confused. I’m new to all of this.
I’ve seen this question asked in the forums, but i’m still unclear..
If I map a domain I already own and i click on a post of mine, will i have a dedicated URL for that post, or will the user only see my masked url? -
you have a dedicated URL – domain mapping is NOT a forward and mask (where you see the custom domain name, but not a good URL for say a Post)
Click on my name – I have a custom domain name that is domain mapped to a blog here – that should answer your question also
