Is there a way to add a Forum?

I’m hoping somebody can help me with this. I badly want to add a simple forum to my blog. And I’m wondering about the best way to do it. Ideally, I’d like to use bbPress, but I gather the only way to do that is to go to wordpress.org and get my own hosting. Have other wordpress.com people encountered this? Is there a solution, ie a simple external forum that would integrate nicely (ie same look and feel) and work smoothly?
I’m hoping to stay with WordPress.com, especially now that I can host videos, but I guess I’m willing to roll my own if necessary.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks!

Forums cannot be embedded in wordpress.COM blogs but you can get one and link to it from your blog. Also note that there are many free forums available on the internet. You can also obtain a free social network site from ning.com.

I’m sorry but no I don’t have any recommendations to make. I mentioned ning because it offers more than just a forum. You can create your own social network on ning free of charge and that includes a forum.

You don’t need to leave WordPress.com, but you will have to host your site elsewhere. Even with WP.org software, the forum is not PART of the blog; it is tacked on, it just looks more integrated. And you can use the same webhost for both, which is just easier administration-wise.
If you get external webspace and install BBPress (which is what this forum runs on) you can use a theme with a tabbed header and link to the forum in such a way that it doesn’t appear to be external, other than the URL.
