Is there a way to disable email notifications for our followers on certain posts we send out?

As we are adding items to the archives on our blog, email notifications are going out to our followers for each one. A few are complaining about getting 9 or 10 emails a day. We suggested that they turn off the email notification in their settings, but they said they then are afraid of missing important posts. Is there a way to have a post not send an email notification? A little check box somewhere that says “do not send email”? Thank you!

    Hey there,

The only way for email notifications to be stopped is for the subscribers to change their settings, as you suggested to them.

As we are adding items to the archives on our blog, email notifications are going out to our followers for each one.

How are you adding these items to your archives? I may be able to help with a workaround, but need to know your process.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hi! Thank you for the quick reply! I would love to have a workaround.

Right now, how we add something to our archive is to create the post, then change the date to a date in the past. Is there a better way to do that? Should they be pages, rather than posts?

    Here is our blog: https://romelittletheatre.wordpress.com/
I have “Archives” as one of the menu tab items at the top.

    Thank you!

That’s just fine. I don’t want to change your methodology! Here’s a little trick:

If you change your site to “private,” then you can add your posts. Once the posts are published, you can change your site back to “public.”

The reason behind this method is that private sites do not send email notifications upon newly published posts.

To change you site’s settings to Private, click the link below:

Scroll down to Site Visibility and change your settings to “I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose.” Make sure you save your change.

Let me know if this sounds doable for you. It should work out well! Take care.

Wow, what a great trick! That will definitely work for us!

Thanks so much! You take care, too!

Fabulous! So glad I could help out. Best of luck on the site.

    Wishing you the best!
